I decided to go for a kit as I want to use the machine for a filming project early in the new year and so was pushed for time.
The kit comes from a company in England call Flyingwings.co.uk. It’s based around and Arduino Pro Mini with Sparkfun accelerometer, magnetometer and barometer. The frame is made from glassfibre and it’s powered by three 1450 KVM brushless out runners with 8 x 3.8 slow flyer props.
As I was pushed the time I didn’t make a build log, however as this is from a kit there’s nothing really special in the build process.
I plan to eventually and a tilt/roll stabilised GoPro camera mount but for now I will tune the copter and mount the camera static for some tests.
It will get its maiden flight this evening and I will post some videos in a follow-up post along with details of PID tuning the copter etc.
